If you represent a business that would like to sponsor a room for this event to provide a free service, OR if you would like to donate money or goods to be given away, please contact us! We'd love to partner with you.
BRING YOUR KIDS
A GIFT TO STRUGGLING FAMILIES
Even the little things can make a big difference in a child's well-being and trajectory:
A fresh haircut and a new outfit could mean the first day of school doesn't feel embarrassing, and that sets the tone for the rest of the year.
A pair of glasses could bring clarity for a child who would otherwise fall behind.
A backpack full of fresh school supplies has the power to bring joy and renewed hope to any child.
Having an advocate help you get signed up for Medicaid could save money for other important things throughout the year.
If you need a little help getting your kiddo(s) all set for school this year, please come and allow us to love on you. We're even putting up an obstacle course and inflatables for the littles to play on while you wait for supplies and services.
WHAT TO EXPECT
HOW IT WORKS WHEN YOU ARRIVE
Be sure to start by picking up a map of services and supplies in the lobby! This is a “first come, first served” event. Although we would love to guarantee services and supplies for everyone, we are limited by time and availability.
SCHOOL SUPPLIES & HEALTHY SNACKS
We've expanded our supply giveaway to include even more, but we're still committed to providing and filling your backpack with school supplies for the first day of school. Go to the gym and fill your backpack, check out the YMCA's obstacle course and snag some healthy snacks.
Gracious community partners will be on-site to provide dental and eye health assistance. Trailhead Pediatric Dentistry will give away dental goodie bags and help schedule cleanings. Local optometrists will provide a vision voucher toward a pair of glasses at their practices. Our Strategic Partner, LaVie, will provide free sports physicals for students needing approved sports physicals to participate in school sports and activities.
APPLICATIONS & SAFETY INFO
The Montana Department of Health and Human Services will be on hand to help families determine eligibility and apply for Medicaid, while WIC (Women, Infants, Children) will also be available with more information. Billings Clinic Trauma Center will provide bicycle safety training for little ones who walk or bike to school. St. Vincent will also be available with water safety and nutritional information.
"FIRST DAY OUTFIT" SHOPPING & HAIRCUTS
Visit the First Day Outfit Store where kids can choose an outfit for their first day of school. Selections and sizes will be limited. We're not as hip as we used to be and want to let your older kids choose their own clothes from the store. So, we'll be happy to provide a gift card for older kids to put toward a new outfit. Don't forget the final touch: a fresh haircut. Head upstairs and get a new do by one of our stylists from Hairborne, Duke's Barbershop, and Hair by Sam from Platinum Salon and Spa.
